Affiliate marketing is NOT set and forget |

It appears that many merchants become disillusioned with their affiliate programs rather quickly and expect an instant ROI.
Like all forms of marketing, affiliate marketing takes time and effort, often more effort than a merchant bargained for. The initial program set up is just the beginning of affiliate marketing.
Once your program is set up you'll need to keep the content coming, with targeted text and banner links, and a data-feed if you really want to get serious about it. Then you have to recruit and manage your affiliates.
Affiliates are your online sales force and as such you need to provide them with the tools to do their job and obey certain etiquette when dealing with them (more on that in a later post) if you really want to form a profitable relationship.
To me affiliate marketing is an amazing resource provided you pay it the attention is needs.
